
A Day In The Life
This section provides an overview of what a typical day looks like for a Flex Associate at Distinktive Merch Co. It outlines day-to-day responsibilities, common tasks, and how this role supports different areas of the shop as needed. Flex Associates play a key role in keeping operations running smoothly by assisting with production, organization, customer support, and general shop tasks.
Use this as a reference to understand daily expectations, workflow flow, and where flexibility and teamwork are most important.

A Day In The Life
Purpose: To ensure consistency, communication, and efficiency throughout each workday — keeping all team members aligned and the shop running smoothly from open to close.

1. Clock In – Work Ready

Arrive on time, dressed appropriately, and ready to work.

Greet team members and settle in quickly.

Phones away in lockers(Trello, communication with offsite employees or vendors, etc.).
2. Check Trello / Job Board

Review Trello first thing to see your assignments and production priorities for the day.

Check for any notes, comments, or new cards from management.

Make sure you review what’s active, what’s pending, and what’s complete.
3. Check In with Chain of Command

Communicate your plan for the day with the appropriate lead:
- 1st: Azar(for production)
- 2nd: Emily
- 3rd: Sarah

Discuss workflow order, pressing priorities, and any shipping or prep tasks that need to be done first.
4. Process & Ship Orders

Begin the day by packaging and shipping any orders ready to go out.

Double-check order accuracy, addresses, and tracking numbers before sealing.

Update Trello once the order has shipped and mark it complete.
5. Production – Until UPS Arrives

Focus on production tasks such as printing, picking, sorting, or preparing blanks.

Stay organized and communicate if delays or issues arise.

Keep your workspace tidy and tools clean as you go.
6. UPS Arrival

When UPS arrives:
- Check in all incoming shipments immediately.
- Cut DTF prints.
- Sort blanks and prints accurately into their designated bins or areas.
- UPDATE TRELLO and check boxes are applicable blanks and prints that have arrived on their respective cards.

If all items for orders are checked in, place invoices into the ‘finished’ basket hanging on Sarah’s desk.
7. Continue Production + Begin Daily Maintenance

Resume production once deliveries are handled.

Begin assigned daily cleaning and maintenance tasks during slower periods or as directed.

Maintain awareness of your space — clean as you go to avoid end-of-day clutter.
8. End-of-Shift Check-In

Check in again with your chain of command before clocking out.

Review what was completed and what’s pending.

Note anything that needs follow-up or attention for the next shift in Trello.
9. Closing Checklist (if Closer)

Complete all items on the closing checklist before leaving inlcuding:
- Clean production area and storefront.
- Remove cardboard and trash.
- Power down equipment safely.
- Verify all Trello tasks are updated.
- Lock up and ensure the building is secure before departing.
